The Life of The Buddha According to Thai Temple Paintings written & published by United States Information Service, Bangkok, Thailand, 1956. 1st Edition. Paperback. Size 4to (up to 12'' tall). Condition: Good. Spine covers missing top & bottom edges, front cover creased at corners, overall content excellent. 184 Pgs. Text in English and Thai. Colored pictures of Buddhist scenes from the walls of many temples and halls. These paintings are like a book in which the devout read, among other stories, the life of Prince Siddhattha who, as monk Gotama, set out to arrive at a solution for the ills of this world and found and taught it after his Enlighten out of compassion for mankind. In order to preserve that art and to make it better known and present it at the same time in a coherent story of the Buddha's life, this book was brought into being. An artist copied the murals while members of the Buddhist order wrote descriptions of each of the pictures. There are additional notes about each picture in the back of the book.
