Yankee Nomad a photographic odyssey by David Douglas Duncan. Published by Holt Rinehart & Winston Inc, New York, NY, 1967. 2nd Edition. Hardbound, no DJ. Size 4to (up to 12'' tall). Condition: VG. Taped tear on top edge intro page. Bottom outside corner pg 193 torn off. Balance of content excellent. 480 Pgs. LCCN 66-10627. An adventure story. The author tells of his years from the time when he was a handy kid and got $3 a picture to the present, when he has about 25 cameras and his returns are a shade higher. From the gaunt, bristly faces of Marines trapped in Korean foxholes to prismatic fantasies of Paris and Picasso. Sheep with blue wool in Ireland, monstrous sea animals off South America, a Greet peasant bandaged to the eyes, an a jamboree of horses in Afghanistan. One shot shows how close he came to death fulfilling an assignment; another was taken not by Duncan at all, but, incredibly enough, was made by the camera itself, jarred by enemy fire. Take a ride with this book, it will be an exciting as well as rewarding journey. Description text copyright 2010 BooksForComfort. Item ID 22092.
